Hello Sunshine Tutoring offers both academic and skill-building classes utilizing various types of literature, gaming, discussion groups, artistic endeavors, and creative problem-solving.

Private Tutoring

Private tutoring sessions are designed around your child's specific learning goals.

We will start out with assessments, conversations with family, and goals. Focuses can be math, reading, writing, literacy, word work, and general academics. Teaching may include dynamic lessons, hands-on experiences, game-based learning, and engaging activities. Specialty sessions are also available and may include academic work alongside creative sessions such as board game design, novel writing, and illustration.

Sessions are 1 hour in length and include a snack.

Cost: $65 per session

*All Summer session dates are set at the beginning of tutoring contract.

* Private Tutoring during summer months are offered around class schedules.

* Private tutoring during the school year occur Mondays - Thursdays.

Summer Small Group Classes

During these sessions, we will read and discuss award-winning books, classic novels, or just really, really good reads ... and have fun beverages along the way. Reading a book about summer? Sounds like iced tea to me. A detective book? A mystery drink is coming right up. A book that takes place in the Amazon? Banana smoothies are in the blender.

Novel-Tea Studies

Included in class:

  • A book of your own to keep

  • A new beverage every day

  • Handmade bookmark

  • Post-it notes for... notes!

  • Very cool pen

Cost: $100 per book study

Expectations of participants & families:

  • Participants must come prepared to discuss the assigned reading for the day.

  • Participants must arrive on time.

  • Snacks and beverages will be provided but are optional.

  • Grade-Level reading target: 5th-7th grade

Basic Writing Strategies 101

This fun & engaging workshop will help you learn how to write a 5-paragraph essay that will WOW them every time!
Part 1: Writing a catchy hook and introduction paragraph.
Part 2: Building the best paragraphs in the body.
Part 3: Wrapping it up with a memorable conclusion.

Games Galore

We have a library of over 300 board and card games to choose from for Games Galore! You can play one of ours or bring your own!
You will have the opportunity to play a new game or teach a game you love to the group. Each day is a different game to learn and lots of play time!

D&D With Me!

Our DM, Dungeon Master Cai, has a super adventure in mind for each of our 3-day campaigns. These adventures will require some quick problem-solving, cunning wits, agile battling, and lots of communication. Use and improve your social skills as a bard, wizard, rogue, or paladin. You will get caught up in this tale of treachery and exploration!
*These campaigns are both designed by Cai and other DMs.

Cost: $120 for the week

That's Novel!

Have an idea for a novel? Need some motivation?
Join us as we write a novel in ONE week! ...or get real close to it.
This novel writing class follows the spirit of NaNoWriMo. National Novel Writing Month encouraged writers to just sit down and write. No editing. No revising. Just writing. Get it out. That's what we'll do!

Each day we will share our favorite part, talk about our story a bit, and then get down to it.
We will channel our best Jack Keroack, get in the zone, and write!

Drawing and Doodles

Join us as we dive into different types of drawings and art forms. We will do a little cartooning, draw fractured landscapes, dabble in Manga, learn watercolor techniques, and have fun being creative. We bring the base... and you bring the creativity!

Nervous about talking in front of a group of people?
Join us in this engaging 2- day workshop to help you gain confidence when you need to make a presentation. Learn tips and tricks to help a scary moment to be... not-so-scary. We will practice some of the strategies with poems, essays, and maybe some of your own writing!
